Houston’s fall art calendar gets significantly more international in October. Untitled Art, Houston returns for its second edition October 2–4, 2026, bringing galleries, collectors, artists and curators from around the world to the George R. Brown Convention Center, with a VIP and Press Preview on Thursday, October 1.
This is not simply a weekend inside a convention hall. Untitled Art is building its Houston edition around the city itself, with museum partnerships, studio visits, special projects, performances and programming that stretches from Downtown to the Museum District, Montrose, Third Ward and Rice University. For visitors, that makes choosing where to stay a little more interesting than booking the closest room to GRB.
Lodgeur has two useful bases for art week: Midtown, with METRORail outside the building and easy access to Downtown and the Museum District, and Upper Kirby, a quieter option near Montrose, Rice Village, Greenway Plaza and some of Houston’s strongest dining.
The 2026 fair takes over Hall A3 at the George R. Brown Convention Center in Downtown Houston. The official Untitled Art visitor information confirms the following schedule:
The dates are an important correction from earlier versions of this guide. The public fair runs October 2–4, not October 4–6. If you have VIP or press access, the week effectively begins Thursday afternoon.
Untitled Art launched its Houston edition in 2025 and returns with a substantially international lineup for year two. The 2026 gallery list includes 99 galleries, with participating exhibitors coming from Texas, across the United States and international art centers around the world.
The fair is divided between established programs and younger galleries, including Untitled Art’s Nest sector. The idea is discovery rather than endless rows of identical booths: emerging galleries sit alongside established dealers, nonprofits, artist-led initiatives and more experimental presentations.
Houston is also unusually visible within the fair. Local galleries and artists are woven into the programming rather than appearing as an afterthought, giving visitors from outside Texas a useful introduction to a contemporary art scene that extends far beyond the city’s major museums.
The 2026 edition includes 11 Special Projects on the fair floor, along with performances, live conversations, installations and the returning Houston Artist Market. This is where Untitled Art separates itself from a straightforward buying fair: there is enough happening between booths to make a full afternoon worthwhile even if you are not arriving with a collecting budget.
Among the announced projects are presentations involving Houston artists JooYoung Choi, Mark Flood and Nestor Topchy, work connected to the late Floyd Newsum Jr., and a project by Nick Vaughan and Jake Margolin exploring Houston’s LGBTQIA+ history. Houston artist Nestor Topchy will also expand his portrait project during the fair through live sittings.
The Houston Artist Market returns with artists, publishers, artist-run spaces and cultural organizations from across Texas. Untitled Art has also announced live podcast discussions and a performative fashion presentation by Kalup Linzy as part of its broader 2026 programming.
If Untitled Art is the only thing on your itinerary, Downtown gives you the shortest possible commute. But art week is one of the stronger arguments for staying slightly outside the convention district. Many of Houston’s museums, galleries, dinners and cultural events happen south and west of Downtown, making Midtown and Upper Kirby particularly useful locations.
Lodgeur Midtown is at 3550 Main Street, directly beside Ensemble/HCC Station on the METRORail Red Line. It is the stronger choice if you want to minimize driving during Untitled Art week while keeping both Downtown and the Museum District easy to reach.
The apartments are located at Mid Main Lofts in Houston’s Midtown Cultural Arts and Entertainment District, with restaurants, bars, music venues and galleries within walking distance. Lodgeur Upper Kirby sits beside Levy Park at 2828 Southwest Freeway. This location makes more sense if you plan to move between the fair and neighborhoods like Montrose, Rice Village, River Oaks and the Museum District rather than spending the entire weekend Downtown.
Upper Kirby is also convenient for art-week dinners. Some of Houston’s most established restaurants, wine bars and cocktail spots are concentrated around Kirby Drive, Richmond Avenue, Montrose and nearby River Oaks. The choice is less about which neighborhood is universally better and more about how you want to experience Houston.
The Red Line does not run directly to the George R. Brown Convention Center, despite what older versions of this guide suggested.
From Lodgeur Midtown, board the northbound Red Line at Ensemble/HCC Station. You can get off at Main Street Square and walk approximately half a mile to GRB, or continue to Central Station Main and transfer to the eastbound Green or Purple Line at Central Station Rusk. Convention District Station is one stop away and sits beside the convention center.
METRO lists Red Line service approximately every 6–12 minutes, with Green and Purple Line trains generally running every 12–18 minutes. The official METRO guide to the George R. Brown Convention Center has current routes and transfer information.
Upper Kirby is primarily a drive or rideshare play for Untitled Art. The neighborhood has quick access to US-59, putting Downtown and GRB within straightforward reach while also making it easier to move among galleries, museums, restaurants and private events elsewhere in central Houston.
That flexibility matters during art week. An afternoon might begin at the convention center, shift to a museum or gallery opening and finish with dinner several neighborhoods away. Upper Kirby puts you closer to the geographic middle of that broader cultural circuit.
Lodgeur guests receive complimentary parking at the Upper Kirby property, so visitors arriving with a rental car do not have to add hotel parking charges to the weekend.
GRB has several parking options around the convention campus, including Avenida North Garage and Tundra Garage, plus private surface lots and metered street parking nearby.
Parking conditions are a little different in 2026 because the convention district is undergoing improvements. Avenida Central Garage is temporarily closed and is scheduled to reopen in fall 2026, while a new Avenida South Garage is also expected to open in the fall. Check the official GRB parking page shortly before the fair for the current configuration.
If you are staying at Lodgeur Midtown and do not otherwise need a car that day, rail is usually the simpler approach. If you are staying in Upper Kirby and combining the fair with several stops around Houston, driving or rideshare gives you more flexibility.
The fair’s six-day VIP program is a reminder that the real art week is happening across Houston. Announced programming includes artist studio visits, private collection tours, open studios at the MFAH Core Residency Program and Rice University, a Rothko Chapel meditation and an evening at the James Turrell Twilight Epiphany Skyspace.
There is also programming tied to the Buffalo Bayou Park Cistern, Houston cultural organizations and galleries around the city. Some events are limited to VIP guests, but the broader point still stands: do not spend the entire weekend inside GRB.

Untitled Art is the excuse to visit, but Houston’s permanent institutions are the reason an art weekend can comfortably stretch into four or five days.
The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston and Contemporary Arts Museum Houston sit together in the Museum District. The Menil Collection and Rothko Chapel anchor another important cluster in Montrose, while Project Row Houses adds a very different view of Houston’s cultural history in Third Ward.
If your schedule allows, use Thursday before the VIP preview or Monday after the fair for museums and galleries rather than trying to squeeze everything between booth visits.
