For more than 50 years, the Bayou City Art Festival (BCAF) has been one of Houston’s favorite outdoor art traditions. The juried festival brings together hundreds of artists working across painting, sculpture, photography, jewelry, mixed media, functional art, and plenty more.
It’s a weekend built for strolling, discovering new talent, meeting the people who actually make the work, and—if something catches your eye—bringing home something original.
And it happens twice a year.
The next Bayou City Art Festival takes place Friday through Sunday, October 9–11, 2026, at Memorial Park.

Bayou City Art Festival traditionally gives Houston two chances a year to wander around looking at art while pretending the weather is behaving: a spring festival downtown and a fall festival at Memorial Park.
The spring 2026 edition took place March 28–29 at Sam Houston Park in Downtown Houston. With that event now behind us, the focus shifts to Memorial Park for October.
The festival’s spring edition is expected to return downtown, but dates for the 2027 event have not yet been published. Check the official Bayou City Art Festival website before making spring plans.
The fall festival turns part of Memorial Park into an enormous outdoor gallery. Around 300 national and international artists are selected through a juried process, representing 19 different art disciplines.
You can browse paintings, photography, sculpture, ceramics, jewelry, mixed media, functional art, and other original work while talking directly with the artists. That last part is one of the best things about the festival: instead of staring at a label on a gallery wall, you can often ask the person who made the piece exactly what was going through their head.
And if you buy something larger than anticipated, good news for anyone who arrived thinking, “I’m just looking”: the festival provides a Patron Art Pick-Up area where large purchases can be held until you’re ready to collect them.
Aubrey Hogan is the featured artist for Bayou City Art Festival Memorial Park 2026.
The Eau Claire, Wisconsin-based painter works primarily in heavy-body acrylic, using an impasto style that leaves visible texture and brushstrokes throughout the work. His subjects frequently explore wilderness, wonder, resilience, and exploration, with recurring imagery including astronauts, bison, wildflowers, and open landscapes.
You don’t need to be shopping for a painting to enjoy the weekend. Bayou City Art Festival also includes food vendors, live entertainment, and activities for younger festival-goers.
The 2026 Memorial Park food vendor lineup includes everything from burgers and wood-fired pizza to West African food, Mexican cuisine, coffee, frozen treats, and more.
Families should also look for the Active Imagination Zone, a hands-on area where kids can make their own art and take their creations home.
The Memorial Park entertainment schedule is still being finalized, so check the festival’s entertainment page closer to the event rather than relying on an old lineup.
The festival is produced by the nonprofit Art Colony Association, which uses each event to support Houston-area nonprofit partners. You can see the current organizations on the 2026 nonprofit partners page.
For general admission, official festival parking is at Delmar Stadium. A $12 parking pass covers the day and includes shuttle transportation between the parking area and the festival entrance.
Importantly, your festival admission ticket does not automatically include general-admission parking, so add the parking/shuttle pass when purchasing your tickets if you plan to drive.
VIP ticket holders have designated parking at the Memorial Park Fitness Center. The festival recommends adding the appropriate parking or shuttle option during checkout even when parking is included with the VIP package.
Houston event parking has a way of becoming its own competitive sport, so sorting this out before you leave is considerably more pleasant than doing it from the driver’s seat.

VIP admission includes access to the festival’s hospitality lounge from 11 a.m.–5 p.m., with shaded relaxation areas, light bites, beer, wine, other beverages, upgraded restrooms, and VIP parking and shuttle service.

Bayou City Art Festival is a rain-or-shine event. October is usually kinder to Houston than August, but Houston is fully capable of offering summer an encore, so sunscreen and water are still smart additions.
